Brief: A beautiful, modern garden design in Hartford designed to be sympathetic to the period architecture. The client brief spoke subtle juxtapositions and contrasts and making use of the space in both functionality and aesthetically.

The main terrace provides space to relax, sunbathe and entertain with a funky steel pergola featuring timber beams, a heat bar for those chilly evenings and a stylish hanging chair.  Surrounding the hardscape and a central lawn, multi-stem trees sit in deep, lush borders with naturalistic planting providing a beautiful backdrop when viewed from the garden and inside the property.

A bespoke garden room/gym that draws on colonial architecture and echoing the existing orangery blends classic and contemporary styling to provide a stunning backdrop that contrasts with the surrounding planting. A raised terrace flows out from the garden room and provides a space to workout, stretch or sit in the sun.

Natural stone paving terrace provides a space for cooking, dining and entertaining with a designer concrete kitchen/bar island with integral green egg. Three oversized pots provide a stylish focal point against the existing hedge backdrop and a striking sculpture is nestled amongst the planting, providing a focal point when viewed from the gym and orangery.

At the time of publishing the garden was currently being built.   Watch this space!
