Set in the beautiful Cheshire countryside, we were approached to create a modern garden that felt comfortable in its surrounding landscape.  The existing garden was clearly once loved but it felt outdated. The cottage was about to embark on a modern renovation therefore it was important the new garden design also embraced the juxtaposition between old and new, traditional and modern.  This was achieved by using the traditional York stone flags already on site along side modern Vande Moortel pavers with a contemporary approach to planting.  The clean, formal lines of the water rill intersect and  make way to long, sweeping curves with deep naturalistic borders.  Only in the garden’s infancy, planted 4 months before these photos were taken, the new perennialist style connect the garden to the surrounding landscape and provide a year-round display of colour and texture.
